Iran’s exports to the member states of Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) reached $1.076 billion in value in the first five months of the Persian calendar year (started March 21), according to the head of ASEAN Workgroup at Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization (TPO).
Mohsen Rezaeipour said the figure indicated a 48% growth compared to the same period of last year, IRNA reported.
“Of the 10 ASEAN members, Thailand saw the highest measure of imports from Iran with 395,000 tons, valued at $266 million, suggesting an 88% year-on-year growth,” he said.
-- Raeisi urges ‘practical will’ to bolster Iran-EU ties
President Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi on Wednesday said Iran is eager to bolster its relations with the European Union but noted that the bloc needs to show a “practical will” and act independently from the United States.
Speaking with European Council President Charles Michel on the phone, Raeisi said relations with the EU can grow based on mutual respect and a focus on commonalities if they are not affected by “external factors”.
“This [strengthening relations] requires the European side’s practical will,” Raeisi said, adding that the bloc should not tie itself to “the will of unilateralist powers” such as the United States.

-- Iran Steel Exports to Afghanistan Resume
Steel exports to Afghanistan have resumed from Iran after a two-week hiatus which came in the wake of the Taliban’s whirlwind takeover of the country, a senior official of the Iranian Ministry of Industry, Mining and Trade (MIMT) said on Tuesday.
“Due to the Taliban war, steel exports to Afghanistan faced problems for two weeks, where trucks were stranded at the customs. The situation was very grave and drivers were not taking risks,” Seifollah Amiri, managing director of the MIMT’s mining industries office, told ILNA news agency.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Amir-Abdollahian says the Americans are the main party violating a 2015 nuclear deal with Iran and have inflicted the most drastic harm to the accord, which is officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
Iran’s top diplomat made the remarks in a meeting with foreign ambassadors and diplomatic missions in Tehran, during which he explained about various aspects of the new Iranian administration’s foreign policy.
Elaborating on the Iranian administration’s position on the Vienna talks, which have been going on for a few months in the Austrian capital to revive the JCPOA following U.S. withdrawal from the accord, Iran’s foreign minister said, “The 13th Iranian administration believes in diplomacy as an effective tool and we will never distance from negotiations.”

Commander of Iran’s navy Rear Admiral Shahram Irani said Tuesday that two ships the force sent around Africa to Russia have returned.
This “most historic military event at sea was completed with authority and success by sending a combat fleet consisting of the Iranian destroyer Sahand and the ship Makran that was able to end its mission and return home,” he said.
This shows Iran’s navy can be present anywhere globally, he told a news conference, celebrating the success of the fleet. “Iran is the only country that provides for its own naval security.”'

-- Iran warns against resolution at IAEA Board meeting
Iran has responded defiantly to critical reports by the UN nuclear watchdog, urging the UN body to act impartially amid ongoing uncertainty over when the nuclear talks between Tehran and world powers would resume.
Iran's representative to the international organizations in Vienna Kazem Gharibabadi said all of Iran’s nuclear activities, including high-enriched uranium and production of metal uranium, are in line with Iran’s proliferation commitments and that no one is entitled to ask Iran to halt its nuclear activities.
“Since the other parties to the JCPOA (the 2015 nuclear deal) have not fulfilled their obligations in lifting sanctions and the U.S. policy of imposing illegal and unilateral sanctions on Tehran still goes on, no one can pressure Iran to halt its nuclear activities,” the Iranian diplomat said.

Iran’s top security official on Wednesday underlined the need for establishing an inclusive government in Afghanistan.
Ali Shamkhani, secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), also expressed concern about foreign intervention and the use of military force in the Central Asian country.
"Afghanistan's first priority is stability and peace," Shamkhani wrote on his Twitter account.
-- Navy chief: Iranian Navy can be present at all open seas
Admiral Shahram Irani, the Navy chief, said on Tuesday that Iran is now is able to navigating all seas.
Speaking at a press conference, Irani described the mission of the 75th Najaf fleet to the northern Indian Ocean and St. Petersburg as “the biggest and most historical naval mission.”
He added that the navy fleet consists of Sahand destroyers.
The mission was completed with power and success by traveling about 45,000 kilometers in the oceans and facing the harsh nature of the oceans and it safely returned to the homeland, Irani explained.
